Why Being Spiritual Needs to Involve Money

The Root of All Evil

What do the rich and poor have in common? They both deal with money. On one side, money is abundant, and does not present a problem—whatever their hearts desire, it can be fulfilled. On the other side, money is grossly lacking, which inhibits their capabilities in the world. In both cases the principal component to how their lives unfold is money.

Why has it been so deeply engrained in our sociological culture that the acquisition of this thing called money is a bad thing? In this world that we created for ourselves, money is needed to operate, so it is also necessary to have it in order to do so.
This stigmatization of money arose primarily with the introduction of organized religion, where it was condemned, and viewed as un-Godly to possess money.

For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.—1 Timothy 6:10, King James Version

From this verse it is mainly extrapolated to mean that money itself is evil, when in actuality what is being said is that the love of money is the root of all evil. When there exists a gluttonous self identification with acquiring monetary wealth, that is where the myriad of potentially self-destructing factors are soon to follow.

In a world where money is essential to living, one can not help the world, if one does not have the funds to do so. If one can not take care of themselves, how then can one properly go forth and take care of (or aid) others? What is evil is not the money, but the “anti-spiritual” realms which money invokes within. As long as one can maintain a level head and heart, charging a client for spiritual counseling, for example, is nothing to have a heavy heart about.

The exchange of money is the exchange of energy, and there is nothing more intrinsic than energy, for it is the driving force of this reality.
